Course summary

You’ll find undergraduate courses at NTC can open many doors – to ministry, community work or continued education. In fact, recent graduates have gone on to find roles in some fascinating settings, in Britain and abroad. To give you greater flexibility, all of our courses are modular. This means the course can form a qualification in its own right or it can be used to build credits in your ‘learning account’. These credits can then go towards an award from the college. The Diploma in Theology course offers a great foundation in theological education as a preparation for Christian service. With full-time and flexible part-time routes available the Diploma can be studied over two years (full-time) or up to four years (part-time). Students will receive 240 credits while on this course. Youth and Community and Practical Theology streams also available. Each course has a combination of ‘required units’ and ‘elective units’. The ‘required units’ make sure that the core elements are in place. The ‘elective units’ allow you to choose areas of particular interest from the full range of units on offer. Although all ‘required units’ are available each year, many ‘elective units’ are available on a two-year cycle. Core models include: Introduction to Theology and Biblical Studies, Story of God, Church History, Christian Doctrine, Spiritual Formation, Christian Holiness, a range of Old and New Testament subjects, and Practical and Social Theology electives. Students may wish to exit with this qualification or use it as the first level towards completion of the degree. Nazarene Theological College is an approved partner of The University of Manchester, delivering programmes developed by Nazarene Theological College, approved by and leading to an award of the University of Manchester.
