Course summary

We place live performance at the heart of this degree, as you balance practical creativity, technique enhancement and theoretical study to become a reflective, articulate and highly employable practitioner. As part of our drama student community, you should be passionate and motivated to develop specialist interests in areas such as acting, devising, or applied drama. With expertise in acting, playwriting, directing, and devising processes, our staff will help you relate your practice to critical theories, theatre histories and contemporary ideas to enable you to develop artistic skills and vision in professional performance contexts.

Modules

Assessment method

Assessment is through a balanced mixture of practical and written work including essays, reflective journals, workshop performances, full productions and oral presentations. Practical work and research go hand-in-hand and all good practice is informed by sound theoretical investigation. In assessment, you can expect to be tested on your practical and theoretical knowledge and understanding. You will be encouraged to reflect critically on your learning and use journals to reflect on your personal development. There are no formal written examinations as part of the current assessment methods for any Drama module on this degree, though one of the optional Language modules is part-assessed by written examinations, should you choose to learn a language as an integrated element of the programme.
