This course is aimed at early career educators, as well as experienced practitioners in health and social care. It is designed to develop your educational knowledge base, and practical teaching skills. The course is flexible to your personal requirements you can take it to the level of qualification that you require. How you learn: All our courses are designed around a set of key principles based on engaging you with the world, collaborating with others, challenging you to think in new ways, and providing you with a supportive environment in which you can thrive. You will have the opportunity to participate in a wide range of diverse and innovative teaching and learning approaches, which will allow you to develop your educational practice and educational provision in the workplace. The course allows you to learn, engage and develop your practice in a multi-professional community which mirrors the workplace. It can be completed either taught (campus-based) or via distance learning. You can study individual modules from this course and gain academic credit towards a qualification. Applied learning - Work placements You will be expected to complete teaching activity to support your educational development. For full-time learners who no longer have access to a practice setting, we can support you with this. Future careers This course prepares you for a career in

  • NMC registered professionals can gain NMC teacher status upon completion of their postgraduate certificate. Dental trainers have used this course to enhance their eligibility in support of dental trainees. If you are registered with the Society of Radiographers, you are eligible to apply for Practice Educator Accreditation after completion of the Introduction to Healthcare Education module.

Entry requirements

Normally, a first degree or professional qualification in a related health care subject. International students require an IELTS score of 6.5 with a minimum of 6.0 in each skill area. Additional fee information

Our tuition fee for UK students on full-time undergraduate degree courses in 2025/26 is £9,535 per year. These fees are regulated by the UK government and therefore subject to change in future years. During your placement year you will pay a reduced fee of £1,200. If you are studying an undergraduate course, postgraduate pre-registration course or postgraduate research course over more than one academic year then your tuition fees may increase in subsequent years in line with Government regulations or UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) published fees.
