It’s a rewarding and never more important field as it underpins modern medicine in our forever developing and changing world. On our Biomedical Sciences degree at ARU Peterborough, you’ll learn about the human body at a molecular, organ and systems level. You’ll discover how to investigate and treat disease with our passionate and highly qualified lecturers. who will share the latest findings about conditions such as cancer, diabetes, antibiotic resistance, and haemostasis. You’ll begin by studying general biology, human anatomy and physiology, microbiology, and cellular and molecular biology. You’ll then turn your attention to modern diagnostic techniques and learn about biomedical disciplines including haematology and transfusion science, clinical biochemistry, cellular pathology, medical genetics, medical microbiology, and clinical immunology. In your final year, with support from a supervisor, you’ll carry out a research project and explore an area of biomedical sciences that’s of particular interest to you. You could also choose to study BSc (Hons) Biomedical Science in Cambridge; our three-year course is accredited by the Institute of Biomedical Science. Both our three-year and four-year (placement) courses in Cambridge are accredited by the Royal Society of Biology.

Entry requirements

Qualification requirements

5 GCSEs at grade D, or grade 3, or above and evidence of two years post-GCSE study at Level 3. If you have achieved at least grade E in one A level, or equivalent, you are exempt from the two years post-GCSE study requirement, but you still must meet the GCSE requirements. Applicants who do not meet the two years post GCSE study at level 3 may be considered based on their satisfactory employment history, which must be a minimum of two years full time employment supported by employer evidence and deemed appropriate by the University for meeting the course of study applied for. If English is not your first language you will be expected to demonstrate a certificated level of proficiency of at least IELTS 5.5 (Academic level) or equivalent English Language qualification, as recognised by Anglia Ruskin University.
