Course summary

The Healthcare Facilities MSc is the only programme currently available in the UK and internationally that leads to a degree specialised in healthcare built environments, either as a healthcare architect or healthcare planner. This is a very multifaceted area of the built environment and there are very few professionals that have academic qualifications at this level able to address the complexity involved. The aim of the MSc is to generate an integrated perspective of all those components that constitute systemic, sustainable, and successful healthcare buildings. These components include: a strong emphasis on the value of real estate and place-making; an understanding of all elements necessary to enable significant environments for healthcare, including anything from hospital to homes for elderly and vulnerable people; a holistic perspective on Healthcare Facilities as a social provision.   Modular (flexible) students - Some postgraduate taught and MRes programmes are available on a modular basis. Modular study lasts between 2 and 5 years. This is different to a part-time study which lasts for a fixed period.
