The University of Westminster has a strong track record of research in the planning and management of transport. We have specific expertise in cycling; air transport and air traffic management; freight transport and logistics. Research in transport studies has been boosted by establishing The Active Travel Academy in 2019 which focuses on walking and cycling, other ‘micromobilities’ (from e-scooters to electric hand cycles) and other projects to reduce car use.
How to apply
Applicants should have a minimum classification of 2.1 in their first degree or equivalent and preferably a master's degree (or masters degree pending). Applicants whose first degree has not been studied in English should have IELTS 6.5 overall and 6.0 in all elements. Applicants need to submit a research proposal of 2,000–3,500 words. It should include a title of proposed research, identify discipline and formulate research questions clearly. It should also include proposed research methodology and plan of work and time schedule. References are normally required and if not provided with your application will be requested at a later date.
