Course summary
This one-year programme has been designed to prepare the individual for the fast-paced industry of Interior Design and to understand the relationships between humans and space. The course will provide you with the skills, knowledge and understanding that underpins the study of Interior Design. In partnership with Anglia Ruskin University the course has also been coordinated to top up to level 6 BA Hons (subject to interview) at Anglia Ruskin's Cambridge Campus once the HND in Interior Design is complete. At CRC we call this package of skills the Passport to Success. English, Maths and IT, Employability, Personal Learning, Social and Community skills, together with your Specialist skills and qualification will give you a distinct advantage when it is time for you to progress to employment or further and higher education. On successful completion of this one-year programme, you will have the opportunity to progress onto the Level 5 HND Interior Design. The opportunity to top up to Degree level will be available to all students (subject to interview) at Anglia Ruskin University once the Level 5 HND is complete. Varied roles are open to individuals after this course such as: • Interior Designer • Interior Architect • FF&E Designer • Architectural Technician • CAD Technician • 3D Designer • Design Manager All the above roles sit within the design spheres of Residential, Retail and Hospitality design.

Assessment method
We want you to achieve to the very best of your ability at CRC. To make this happen we offer both learning and personal support by specialist staff tailored to meet your specific needs. Assessment: All units will be internally assessed using predominantly coursework, Portfolios, assignments, etc. Work will be graded according to the following calibration.

Qualification requirements
Entry requirements shall be equivalent to passes in one of the following: An accredited Access Certificate. One subject at A Level, supported by passes at Grade 4 (C) in four other subjects at GCSE. University recognised standards of the NCVQ. BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma, Diploma and Subsidiary Diploma. Employment as a trainee in the professional/technical areas of construction is desirable. You will have an active and keen interest in Design, Art and Architecture. Entry will be subject to a successful interview and completion of a taster day/s. In addition to the entry qualifications listed, the offer of a place on the course is subject to the outcomes of the initial assessment, which will be taken at the College as part of the admissions process. Please note that entry criteria may vary quite significantly between courses at the same level. This is to take account of the specific skills needed for success on particular courses, the length of the course and the requirements for progression to the next level. Entry criteria are given as a guide, and the exact requirements in order to obtain a place on a particular course will be confirmed following attendance at a professional interview.
