Course summary

• This is a Top-up programme designed to allow you to progress from a prior approved qualification to an honours level degree. • There is an induction programme to facilitate effective transition to honours degree level • Based at Eccles 6th Form College in Salford with state of the art teaching facilities, including classrooms, veterinary nursing suite and laboratories. • Outstanding, purpose built animal and equine facilities provide practical opportunities to ensure you will become effective in the workplace. • Teaching Staff have extensive professional knowledge and industry experience within the animal management sector, with expertise in both core curriculum and current developments. • High staff to student ratios which increases the amount of contact time, interaction and one-to-one support. • Extensive online support through our bespoke Virtual Learning Environment. • Inclusive learning environment where individualised learning and assessment is encouraged and supported through Individual Learning Plans. • Additional dedicated support given to those with learning difficulties or disabilities, as part of a nurturing, pastoral environment. • Dedicated HE Support Officer providing academic and pastoral support. • Strong links with industry, community, educational and professional companies will improve your employability skills and knowledge. • This programme will help you gain employment in the following sectors: educational officer, animal welfare inspector, pet nutritionist, zoo department manager, animal laboratory specialist, ecologist, rehabilitation specialist, behavioural consultant, kennel/cattery managers, farm park advisors and veterinary services, FE and HE teaching, and postgraduate research.

Assessment method

Assessment tasks are linked to the learning outcomes of each module and are completed before the end of the module. Module assessments typically involve written coursework, oral assessments and project work. assessment is varied and could include: • practical assessments • data analysis • case studies • reflective activities where you look back over your experiences, analyse them with the assistance of relevant theory and reflective tools, and learn from the experience • online discussions that you have had with your peers, tutors and invited contributors to the programme • oral and written reports • field note books • plans (e.g., action plans, plans for your group activities) • presentations • portfolios of evidence.
