Course summary

This degree builds on the industry-recognised HNC. All first year entrants will start on the HNC and the entry requirements are therefore for this programme. Successful completion will allow you to progress onto the second year of the degree. Applicants already holding a relevant HNC qualification can apply for direct entry to the second year. When completing your application make sure you choose year two. It may be possible for applicants holding a relevant HND qualification to apply for direct entry to year three, again where this is the case please make sure you choose year three when completing your application. Designed by industry professionals, this skills-led honours degree aims to help graduates progress to the forefront of the sector and have sustainable and rewarding careers. Our lecturers are experienced, research-active professionals. Audio engineering is a fast changing industry and this course will equip you with the necessary skills. This course offers you the chance to choose your own specialism within the industry such as live events, broadcast, music recording or game audio, offering you a unique and rewarding experience.

Advanced entry to year two may be possible if you have completed the HNC Sound Production or other relevant HNC. UHI does not use Tariff points, and accepts a range of qualifications. Applicants with other relevant qualifications or experience will be considered on an individual basis.

This is a Top-Up Degree whereby Year 1 of the course comprises an HNC and in some cases Year 2 an HND. Courses which comprise an HN award as their first and/or second year will be charged the Higher National fee for the first and/or second year, increasing to the degree fee rate after this. Please see the course page for specific fees details. RUK students will be charged the RUK HN fee for the Higher National portion of the programme and the degree portion will be charge at the RUK degree fee, the fourth year of consecutive study on the programme is free.
