Course summary

The Foundation Degree in Sportsturf Management has been designed to enable students to achieve a higher education qualification with a practical focus. It has been developed in partnership with industry experts and is fully endorsed by the Institute of Groundsmanship (IOG). Students are eligible to apply for membership of the IOG upon completion of the course.

Year 1 - Academic and Vocational Skills; Essential Plant and Soil Science; Turfgrass Establishment and Management (double module) Year 2 - Sportsturf Mechanisation; Business Management; Groundsmanship and Greenkeeping (double module) Year 3 - Industry Project; Research Methods; Environmental Plant Physiology; Sports Surface Construction, Drainage and Irrigation Design

Entry requirements

Qualification requirements

Normally 5 GCSEs Including Maths and English (or equivalents) are required, however, applicants are advised to check with the University Centre if they do not possess the specific qualifications. The University Centre may consider applicants with work experience within a relevant industry in place of some qualifications. Applicants who believe they may be eligible for Accreditation of Prior Certificated and/or Experiential Learning (APCL/APEL) will be considered on an individual basis. If you have any queries in relation to entry qualifications, then please contact the University Centre directly.
