Course summary

Electronic engineers design, develop, test, and oversee the creation of anything from drones and electric cars to the technology in smartphones, sat navs and systems in hospitals. Our course offers you many different ways to develop your understanding of electronics. You'll work on lab-based projects, work individually and in small teams. You'll learn to project manage and bring your technical knowledge to problem solve different situations. With the ever-changing developments in technology, you will graduate with the confidence to create, understand and develop electrical control systems of the future. All our electrical and electronic courses have the same content in year one and two so by year three, you can choose to specialise in the topics that interest you. As a BEng graduate, there are many options available to you. You can choose to register with the Engineering Council as an Incorporated Engineer or progress to Chartered Engineer status. Our course will give you with the required engineering expertise for either a career in industry or in a variety of other professions.

Modules

All our electrical and electronic courses have the same content in year one and two so by year three, you can choose the topics that interest you. In your second year, you will continue to improve your understanding of electronic engineering, and your design skills will be developed through a variety of laboratory-based subjects. In your third year, you can choose from a range of specialist topics to follow a wide path, or focus on specific technologies. Through lectures, group study and tutorials combined with coursework and self-study, you may spend over 40 hours a week on your studies.
