You’ll reinforce sound business knowledge with legal study and training — equipping yourself with versatile skills for a range of careers. How you learn: All our courses are designed around a set of key principles based on engaging you with the world, collaborating with others, challenging you to think in new ways, and providing you with a supportive environment in which you can thrive. You'll develop an understanding of the fundamental principles, rules, doctrines and values which underpin our laws, and consider their intersection with business. In your business and management modules you will learn about the social context of business and organising, human behaviour in organisations, ethics, social responsibility of private companies as well as public organisations, human resources and entrepreneurship. You learn through:
  • lectures and seminars
  • 1 to 1 support
  • group work
  • live projects and client work
Applied learning - Work placements Our on-campus legal firm SHU Law operates within our award-winning Helena Kennedy Centre for International Justice. You'll engage in live client work in a variety of different practice areas within the law firm, such as commercial, property and litigation. Being part of a dynamic professional legal services team – providing advice, assistance and representation at court – will give you exposure to live client-led legal practice activity. This will prepare you to work in the context of legal practice. Live projects You'll apply your academic studies on a range of exciting live projects and work placements, conducted in small groups under the supervision of qualified solicitors and paralegals. Through professional work-based learning modules delivered within SHU Law, you'll develop the ability to apply law in a real-world context, enabling you to understand the role of law in practice. Networking opportunities You’ll be encouraged to network through a dedicated course-focused student society where you'll liaise with alumni members, professional body representatives and Sheffield Hallam’s industry sector, business and legal practice networks.
