Course summary
If you want to progress in your business career, launch your own business, or get a head start in employment by gaining a formal qualification in Business, these programmes could be right for you. The Pearson Higher National BTEC in Business can be studied as a Higher National Certificate (HNC) and, if you want to continue, as a Higher National Diploma (HND). You can study either full-time or part-time and you will be based in our brand new University Centre at our WISE Campus in Bristol. These courses have been designed and developed to meet professional standards which are recognised by employers and universities. Both programmes will enable you to develop as a professional, so that you can meet the demands of employers in the business sector and adapt to a constantly changing world. You will develop the wide range of personal skills that employers require, as well as a solid understanding of current concepts, theories and techniques in business and management. You’ll learn how to apply your understanding to real world business situations, including opportunities of valued work experience with local businesses, that can support you in your personal and professional development during and after you finish your studies Each course takes one year (full-time) and is a great way to develop your skills and understanding of the field, with the option to finish after the first year with a nationally recognised qualification (the HNC). If you decide to continue for a second year, the HND is the equivalent of a Foundation degree. You’ll be assessed by a variety of methods and there are no formal examinations. The HNC offers you a broad introduction to the subject at Level 4, allowing you to develop the core skills you need to progress. It will prepare you for a range of careers in business, including management, administration, human resources, marketing, entrepreneurship, accounting and finance. If you are already working, you could study part-time and improve your opportunities for promotion and career development. Once you have successfully completed the HNC, you can go on to apply for a job in your chosen career, or - to give you even more choice as you progress - you might choose to continue on to the HND at Level 5 The HND enables you to develop the management skills you’ve acquired in the HNC, following your own interests. You will develop your personal skills, including being able to manage your own workload, and enhance your leadership abilities and self-confidence. The HND is the equivalent of a Foundation degree. If you decide you want to continue studying, you can top up the HND to a full Bachelor’s degree by studying for one further year at level 6 in another college or university. If you love playing sport, you could continue to play at an elite level whilst studying. Our well-structured Sports Academy programmes delivered by professional coaches providing training, strength and conditioning, sports therapy and some of the best sporting facilities in the South West of England, at our WISE campus in Bristol.
