Course summary
During this course you will develop the breadth and depth of knowledge required by managers in today's society. You will consider the economic, financial and legal issues managers have to deal, along with the tools and techniques they use. The HND Business qualification is achieved after two years, and can be topped up to obtain a full degree. This Business Level 4/5 course is the equivalent to the first two years of a university degree, and offers a local approach to study, with close personal support available throughout your study. Links to real businesses and local employers make it suitable for those wishing to progress directly to employment or to university. On successful completion of the HND you will have the option to top up the qualification to a full Bachelor’s degree at university or enter employment. You can also can join one of the many professional institutes and continue your studies through their examinations.

Modules
There will be a wide range of units available to study, which in the first year may include: Business environment Managing financial resources Organisations and behaviour Marketing principles Aspects of contract and negligence Costing and budgeting HRM Working with and leading people. Units available in the second year may include: Business decision making Business strategy Business project Small business European business Marketing planning Human resource development Employment law.
Assessment method
Each unit will be assessed using a variety of methods, including written reports, presentations, oral and practical assessments; there are no external examinations. The assessments will develop your work-related skills, such as analysis, problem solving, decision making, communication and presentation skills. These will enhance your self-confidence, allowing you to progress your career aims.

There are no qualification requirements for this course.
You will need: English AND Maths GCSEs at grade A*-C/Functional Skills at level 2 AND 48 UCAS Tariff points from A-Levels with 32 points from one A-Level qualification OR 48 UCAS Tariff points from a BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Business OR an equivalent Level 3 qualification. We welcome applications from mature students who will be considered individually on experience rather than qualifications, subject to a successful interview.
