Course summary
The programme seeks to strike an equitable balance between underpinning academic concepts, practical work, techniques and principles necessary for a successful career in engineering management. This course will focus on a wide range of subjects enabling engineering management graduates to enter a broad range of careers in many sectors. KEY FEATURES OF THIS COURSE - ACCREDITATION: The degree is accredited by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE). On completion, you will have met the full requirements to register as an Incorporated Engineer (IEng) - FACILITIES: You'll have access to excellent labs and facilities whilst studying this degree. Spaces include our Additive Manufacturing Lab with various 3D printed technology, Wind tunnel and Thermodynamics area that includes a jet engine and test engine, and our Mechanical Workshop with both traditional lathes and milling machines, alongside more modern CNC equipment - EMPLOYABILITY: You’ll develop multi-disciplinary skills to undertake a management role in the engineering industry and combine your technical expertise with business skills to deal with complex technical and management issues - EXPERT TEACHING: Learn from our expert team of academic staff who have extensive industrial experience of engineering - SUPPORT: You will have a personal academic tutor to support you during your studies. They will help you to get the most out of your studies and feel confident in working to achieve your goals WHAT YOU’LL COVER You’ll cover areas in operations management, ethics, environment and innovation, project management, system modelling and simulation. HOW YOU WILL LEARN There’s a mixture of lectures, classes, case study discussions, work-related learning activities, research-based learning and computer lab sessions to give you hands-on experience of using software. You’ll also have the opportunity to explore and gain valuable field experience from a number of industrial visits and guest lectures. YOUR CAREER Employers are looking for students who can not only demonstrate a strong technical understanding of engineering, but also an understanding of operations and supply chain management, continuous improvement, project management and sustainable development in both the manufacturing and the service sectors. This course will equip you with the appropriate skills that would enable you to practise as a manager in the engineering sector.
