Course summary

The event industry is one of the youngest and fastest growing industries in the world today, playing a key role in economic development and social wellbeing, and stimulating business and leisure travel - both nationally and internationally. By studying our MSc in Events Management, you will be equipped with an in-depth knowledge and understanding of planning, organising and evaluating the impact of a wide variety of events in a range of different industry sectors. Throughout the course you will develop the professional and transferable skills you need to make your mark in this exciting and dynamic profession.

Modules

Critical issues in tourism and events management; meeting customer needs; events and festivals: planning and management; staging and evaluation of Events; management research; work-based learning in events and tourism; leadership; project management; dissertation.

Assessment method

A variety of assessment approaches are used, both individual and group-based, including essays, examinations, reports, critical literature reviews, vivas and presentations. Formal assessments are normally scheduled towards the end of each module, but there are opportunities to submit work and receive feedback on this work throughout the course for example, through blogs, diaries and 'elevator' pitches.


Entry requirements

You will need: An honours degree of 2:2 or above in any subject. If you do not meet the above requirement, but have at least two years management responsibility or experience as a consultant/sole practitioner and/or equivalent qualifications, we will consider you on an individual basis. If English is not your first language, you will be required to meet the UK Border Agency and Universities minimum English Language requirements such as the International English Language Test (IELTS) overall score of 6.5 with 5.5 in each component.
