History with Politics provides a unique opportunity to explore key historical and political events that have shaped today's society. History with Politics at NTU offers you exciting opportunities to discover and understand the past, whilst developing your understanding of the issues dominating our lives; from the war in Afghanistan to the European Union. It demands passion, focus, an open mind, intellectual curiosity and a willingness to engage with independent learning. You will get to understand diverse peoples, nations, and ideas from medieval and early modern through to modern and contemporary history, across Britain, Europe, the Americas, Asia and the Far East.

Modules

Develop your knowledge and understanding of the history of political thought. You'll cover a diverse range of historical periods, regions and ideas, as well as political theory, ideas and ideologies. We offer you a wide range of options so you can study what you are passionate about, or discover a new and exciting area you never even considered before. Year One builds the key historical skills and practices you'll need in your future, alongside introductory modules on politics and political thought. Year Two is all about you. You can choose a pathway which suits your needs and interests with the opportunity to travel, work or specialise your study with optional modules. Year Three is your chance to really explore what fascinates you, with a further range of options and a project on a specialist research topic of your choice. You'll be guided along with expert supervision from your teaching team. Throughout your degree you will be building your employability with extensive work-like experiences, digital skills and problem-solving.

Assessment method

We use a varied and diverse range of coursework assessments to develop your skills and support your progress. These include digital projects, reviews, case-studies, essays, presentations and reports. Our innovative approach to assessment means that in Year One you will develop and enhance a complementary set of key skills for success in second and third year, and throughout the degree the varied assessment pattern will enable you to engage with the past and prepare for your future through an exciting array of projects.
