Course summary

This Criminology, Psychology and Social Justice programme will provide you with the skills to understand and assess the dilemmas of crime and justice in contemporary society. Grounded in a broad base of practical knowledge and the applied insights of Criminology, Psychology and Social Justice, this BA Honours degree programme gives you depth of understanding in the fields as well as the subject specialist skills of professional practice needed to succeed in the contemporary economy.

Course details


The course is designed to have a modular framework. Allied to essential theoretical studies in Psychology, Sociology, Criminology and Social Justice are modules in Professional Practice which will enable a real understanding of the requirements of a well skilled contemporary work force for whom this course is ideally suited.

Assessment method

UCC cultivates a scholarly approach early on in the programme by adopting an assessment for learning strategy, where assignments are designed to encourage independent research, peer collaboration, simulations of knowledge production and cognitive elaboration. The aim of assessment is to promote a culture of knowledge-exchange through the duration of the programme. Therefore, assessment your progress will be varied and via a combination of course work including essays, case studies, seminar presentations, group and individual oral presentations, poster presentations, examination, dissertation, and reflective reviews of placement opportunities.

UCAS Tariff 80 points A minimum of 80 UCAS points from AS/A2 level (must include at least one A2) or other equivalent advanced level course; or BTEC National Award /Certificate/ Diploma in a related subject; or a pass in a relevant Access to HE qualification; or other UK/overseas Level 3 qualifications. In addition we require a pass in English Language at GCSE at grade C or above, or an equivalent. International students would need to have an IELTS test at band 6.0 or above. Mature applicants may be considered on relevant experience without having the required tariff points.
