Course summary

Building on the success of the postgraduate programmes at the Wales International Academy of Voice, the newly devised BMus (Hons) Vocal Performance is a specialist industry-focussed programme for singers. The programme is delivered by expert academics and practitioners of national and international repute within a specialist facility in Cardiff, the capital city of Wales. Modules on the programme examine areas such as performance studies, movement, music theory, technologies of performance and performance projects designed to develop a wholistic approach to vocal performance. A specific feature of this programme is extensive 1-to-1 vocal tuition and a series of masterclasses throughout the academic year from world-renowned artists.

Year Three – Level 6 (BMus) • Creative Industries (20 credits; compulsory) • Final Performance (Vocal Technique 3) (30 credits; compulsory) • Independent Project (40 credits; compulsory; Graduate Attributes Framework module) • Professional Practice for Performance (30 credits; compulsory).

Assessment method

Assessment on this programme is by a range of methods offering opportunities to present learning in a variety of different ways throughout the course. A number of the methods include performances, portfolios, technical assessments, recording, electronic testing, arranging, mock auditions, podcasting, essay writing and presentations.
