Course summary

This course is designed for computer science graduates and has been popular with those looking to specialise in Software Engineering and progress their career in this direction. The degree focuses on the key models, methodologies, measures and tools that can be used in the software engineering process equipping you and your career with the essentials for success in this field.

Modules

Core modules: Contemporary practices in information technology; measures and models for software engineering; software engineering practice and experience. Optional modules: Advanced database; distributed systems security; e-learning applications development; interaction design; learner centred design; mobile standards, interfaces and applications; multicast and multimedia networking; secure systems programming; software engineering MSc project; web scripting and application development; wireless, mobile and ad-hoc networking.

Assessment method

Assessment is by coursework - there will be a fixed date for assignment submission. Online tests - a fixed 24-hour time slot is normally assigned for each online test to be taken.


Entry requirements

A 2.2 Honours degree in computer science or equivalent (e.g. honours degree from the UK) or equivalent in Computer Science or closely-related subject. Plus IELTS 6.0, TOEFL 550 (213 CBT) if your first language is not English. Applicants who do not wholly meet these requirements, but who are considered to have the professional experience, motivation or potential to succeed at the programme, may also be accepted.
