Course summary
Students on this course develop an understanding of the interactions of drugs with macromolecules and modern molecular techniques, and how they are used in pharmacology and drug discovery / development. The course also explores a number of hot topics in molecular and cellular neuroscience, selected from current scientific literature.
Modules
Cell Biology and Physiology, Neurophysiology, Biology of Disease, Research Methods and Bioethics, Pharmacology, Techniques in Macromolecular Analysis, Research Project.
Assessment method
Formal examinations, oral and poster presentations, research project, written assignment.
Entry requirements
A UK Honours degree (minimum 2.2) or higher qualification in a biological or equivalent subject such as biochemistry, biology, pharmacology or pharmacy, plus laboratory experience gained through employment or an undergraduate research project. Appropriate experience or other relevant qualifications will also be considered. Applicants whose first language is not English should have an IELTS score of 6.5.
