Course summary

This course will be of specific interest to you if you are seeking to develop or advance your career in health, care or public health. It has been designed to enhance student employability, providing excellent outcomes in either employment or progression to professional study. There is a significant vocational focus to the course and a range of work experiences and/or placement settings are available to you for development of learning in practice. Modules

You will develop an understanding of the theory underpinning care practice, which will enhance the quality of care you provide for your clients either in work or on placement. The content of the curriculum is strongly influenced by the principles of wellbeing and prevention. Year 1 modules include: • Work-Based Learning: Health and Social Care Practice • Safeguarding Vulnerable Individuals • Academic Study Skills and Digital Literacy • Health and Wellbeing in Context Year 2 modules include: • Work-Based Learning: Health and Social Care Service Development • Research Methods in Health and Social Care • Public Health • Specific Needs

Assessment method

You will be assessed through formative assessments to help develop your academic skills as well as several forms of summative assessment including assignments, examinations, presentations, portfolio work, case studies, workbooks and projects. 50% is assessed through a work-based e-portfolio demonstrating practice development achieved within the workplace/placement.

Qualified teacher status (QTS)

To work as a teacher at a state school in England or Wales, you will need to achieve qualified teacher status (QTS). This is offered on this course for the following level:

Qualification requirements

You must also hold Level 2 qualifications in English and Maths. This may be GCSE (grade C/4), Functional Skills or units from the Access to HE Diploma. Direct applicants to Year 2 will need to hold 120 credits at Level 4 from either a Cert HE or HNC.
