The University of Westminster has an international reputation for excellence in Architecture research. There are close links to practice, with award winning architects amongst the staff, and we now offer a PhD by Practice route co-ordinated by Professor Kester Rattenbury in conjunction with RMIT. Research Groups include: Architectural History and Theory; Environment and Technology; Expanded Territories; Experimental Practice (EXP); and Representation, Fabrication and Computing.
Applicants should have a minimum classification of 2.1 in their first degree or equivalent and preferably a master's degree (or masters degree pending). Applicants whose first degree has not been studied in English should have IELTS 6.5 overall and 6.0 in all elements. Applicants need to submit a research proposal of 2,000–3,500 words. It should include a title of proposed research, identify discipline and formulate research questions clearly. It should also include proposed research methodology and plan of work and time schedule. References are normally required and if not provided with your application will be requested at a later date.
