Course summary

During this HND course you will explore the key concepts of engineering in much more detail, building on the things you have learned from previous study. You will cover aspects of mathematics, design, and programming to understand how they relate to the practical working environment. Students will develop a range of skills and techniques, personal qualities and attributes essential for performance in a professional working environment. This will enable individuals to make an immediate contribution to the companies they work for. HNDs are an established and well-respected qualification that provides the perfect foundation to build your career and a route into the final year of a full engineering degree.

Modules

Building on the skills and techniques you have gained from previous study and your experience, you will be introduced to advanced areas of engineering such as, Instrumentation and Control, health and safety and engineering management to give you an understanding of the roles you can play in engineering world. This course will give you a broad mix of units, so you are able to experience a wide range of engineering challenges to learn from. Units include:

Qualification requirements

This course allows you to "top up" from an HNC to and HND on a part-time basis. We can also accept 120 CATS points from degree-level study (e.g. one year of full-time FdSc or BSc). Content of completed modules from previous study will be reviewed to ensure they map across to learning aims/outcomes of the new course. Please contact us for further information.
