Course summary
The Wildlife and Environmental Conservation programme will give students the opportunity to develop skills and enhance knowledge across a range of environmental based industries including wildlife conservation, habitat and Countryside management and ecological consultancy. This two year Foundation degree will cover a range of themes, including wildlife biology; habitat and countryside management; evolution and taxonomy; practical field research; current industry techniques and technologies. All aspects have been tailored to provide successful students with the best skill-set for their chosen industry.
Modules
Year 1 (Level 4) Core Modules include: • Academic Writing and Research • Diversity of Life • Conservation and Wildlife Management • Ecological Conservation Skills • Anthroecology Optional Modules, choose 1: • Wildlife Ethics, Law and Legislation • River and Ocean Systems Year 2 (Level 5) Core Modules include : • Independent Research Project • Professional Skills in Wildlife and Land Management • Management of Habitats and Protected Areas • Introduction to GIS • Introduction to Conservation Genetics Optional Modules, choose 1: • Business Enterprise • Conservation Project and Event Management
Assessment method
Assessments may include; Course work, TCA's, online assessment, presentations, Viva-voce and practical assessments.
