This award is currently subject to validation with a first intake planned for September 2024. About the course The degree is taught at our ultra-modern City Hub campus providing access to professional equipment, studio spaces and Adobe Creative Suite along with other relevant software. You will also have numerous opportunities to engage with other students preparing to get into the creative industries and work in response to industry briefs. What you will cover: Year 1 (Level 4) modules: -Introducing Journalism -Media Law and Ethical Reporting -Broadcast Studio Production Project -Digital Skills for Journalism -Podcasting -Micro-Documentary Year 2 (Level 5) modules: -Newsroom Practice -Online Journalism -Ethics and Society -Current Affairs Documentary Year 3 (Level 6) modules: -Investigative Journalism -Independent Project Assessment A combination of traditional and innovative assessment methods are used: including case studies, group projects, live briefs, peer review, time-constrained assessments and presentations. There are no examinations. Bursaries We want our courses to be accessible to students from any background, so we’ve put together a cash support package in the form of non-repayable bursaries to provide financial help where it’s really needed. Qualification awarded Level 6 Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Journalism: Digital Broadcasting - subject to validation. Progression and careers Digital Media has employability at its core, with extensive industry links and live professional projects. Employers highly value multi-skilled creatives, with the visual communication skills necessary to produce effective campaigns across all digital media for a variety of audiences. Through our industry links, we have achieved a very high graduate employability rate. This programme also provides an ideal base from which to go on to postgraduate study. Digital Journalism graduates will be well-prepared for a wide variety of roles including: journalist, researcher, PR, vlogger, reporter, podcaster, marketing manager, social media/video content manager, producer or broadcast assistant.
