MFA Creative Practice: Transdisciplinary at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance - UCAS

Course summary

The MA/MFA Creative Practice: Transdisciplinary offers a unique opportunity to place your interdisciplinary practice in transformative dialogue with leading dance and movement practitioners. The programme is designed to provide a flexible and bespoke programme of study, enabling you to choose from a range of modules delivered by Trinity Laban. MA/MFA Creative Practice supports both emergent and professional (dance) artists in the further development of their practice. Key Features

  • Flexible curriculum lets you develop existing specialisms and pursue new skills, such as performance making, embodied writing or film making.
  • Choreological Practice will provide a framework and terminology for investigation and analysis of human movement.
  • Practical investigations aim to enhance observation skills and develop movement literacy.
  • The Transdisciplinary pathway offers a bespoke and supported space to challenge your assumptions, bring clarity, and articulate your values and priorities as an artist and creative practitioner.
  • An interdisciplinary approach allows development and articulation of your individual research.
The MFA Creative Practice is a two year full time programme. It shares the first year taught programme with the MA. An extended independent project forms the second year, providing time for in-depth research and realisation of a substantial body of work. The Transdisciplinary pathway welcomes artists and creative practitioners at varying stages of their career. Applicants may have backgrounds in physical theatre, design, film, visual and live art, contemporary performance or circus. The programme is particularly suited to multi-faceted artists wishing to pursue portfolio careers that might include performance and performance-making, teaching, movement direction, and multimedia and cross art practice. As part of the application process, you’ll be asked to tell us about your current practice, where you envision it going and how postgraduate study at Trinity Laban will help you get there.
