Course summary

Secure your passport to a clinical academic career, research management role, or further research training with our interdisciplinary MRes programme. Aimed at healthcare practitioners, it is a component of the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) clinical academics training pathway and will equip you with the skills and knowledge to engage in all aspects of clinical, healthcare or academic research. It is ideal if you are working in a clinical research environment but don’t hold a healthcare qualification or as preparation for clinical academic doctoral fellowship applications. We have a strong global reputation for research excellence, together with the latest facilities and leading academics to support you. Modules

Typical modules include: Applied Qualitative Research Methods; Clinical Health Research Project 1 & 2; Design Methods for Clinical and Health Research; Planning Clinicial and Health Research; Qualitative Research Design and Methods.

Assessment method

You will be assessed according to your research proposal, critical appraisal of literature, presentations and project reports, as well as your empirical dissertation. All assignments have been designed to help you to integrate theory and practice - optimising your critical thinking skills and ultimately improving your clinical research skills.

Entry requirements

UK 2.2 Hons degree or above or an equivalent standard in other qualifications approved by the University in a subject such as: nursing; medicine; biological sciences; psychology; sociology; midwifery; dentistry; physiotherapy, podiatry, occupational therapy.
