The Level 5 Higher National Diploma in Games Development is a full-time, one year course, designed to provide you with the skills to progress into the games industry in addition to having an extensive portfolio. This course has been structured to meet the needs of the constantly evolving games industry; we aim to ensure that you leave with a skill set required for a career in games through a series of collaborative projects, this includes: • Building Advanced 3D models using current industry software • Art Direction & Production Design - Developing 2D concept artwork and a unified visual design for a game • Advanced Game Design - Developing game engines and testing them in Unreal Engine 5. • Environment & Level Design – Designing layout for a playable game • Game Development Practices - Taking a wider view of the roles and development of computer games and developing your own ideas. • Games in Context - exploring the evolution of video game development and its social, cultural, technological and economic components. • Professional Practice - Developing a personal career plan and portfolio Where can this take me? Successful completion of a Higher National Diploma in Games Design will provide you with a range of options when it comes to your progression. These include: • An ongoing professional portfolio to support applications in industry • Applying to University to join in Year 2 of a relevant degree • Applying to University to join in Year 3 of a relevant degree Entry Requirements and UCAS points Completion of a Level 4 Higher National Certificate in Games Design (or equivalent) Desired grade ‘C’ or above in GCSE English/maths.
