Course summary

This comprehensive course is designed to provide you with a solid foundation in various disciplines related to animal science, enabling you to apply your skills across a wide range of fields. Throughout your studies, you will gain a deep understanding of biochemistry, microbiology, anatomy and physiology, health and disease, breeding and reproduction, nutrition, and behaviour. Our programme emphasises the integration of pure and applied sciences in the study of animals and can be studied over three years full-time or six years part-time. You will not only acquire practical and laboratory skills but also delve into the underlying biological principles of biochemistry, genetics, and animal growth alongside core subjects of behaviour and nutrition. Allowing you to develop a strong scientific understanding of animal biology and its implications for animal health, disease, growth, and development. By completing this programme, you will be well prepared to enter the professional field and make a positive impact on the lives of animals.. Graduates could seek a career/employment within a range of animal health roles including Research Disease Surveillance Quarantine Officers Welfare Enforcement Animal Health Inspectors e.g. DEFRA Wildlife Conservation and Management Independent Wildlife Agencies (RSPB, Scottish Natural Heritage, Natural England) Animal Production Animal Science Education Animal Nutritionist and Pet Food Manufacturing
