If you’re interested in art, architecture and interiors, as well as in people, this well-established Interior Design degree will prepare you for a career in this growing and competitive industry. Starting with the principles of interior design, you’ll progress to larger projects, explore spatial design and specialise in the remodelling of existing buildings for new use. You will work on industry-related projects, working with professional designers, learning how to handle a project with real clients and budgets, and how to operate as a freelance interior designer. This can lead to work placements and project management skills that employers value. Live projects are a key feature of our Interior Design course, and thanks to our excellent links, our students’ work is regularly selected and used by companies across the UK.

Course assessment is through regular coursework submissions, in addition to examinations in some areas.

Interview
Selection for this course is based on a suitable application and attendance at an interview with successful outcome. Your interview is an opportunity for you to talk about your interests and ideas, and to find out what is so special about Interior Design at USW.
Portfolio
We encourage you to bring either a portfolio or examples of your work (digital/physical) to your interview. If your interview is online, a link to your portfolio or work can be sent to [email protected]. Your portfolio should display competencies to support your application to this course and should demonstrate your creative process and examples of your work. This can include any sketchbooks or journals.

Students have access to a wide range of resources including textbooks, publications, and computers in the University’s library and via online resources. In most cases they are more than sufficient to complete a course of study.
