Course summary
Our Business Analytics MSc course aims to teach you to interpret data, uncover new patterns and relationships, make predictions, and drive informed, smart business decisions. Throughout this course, you should learn to:
- develop qualitative, quantitative and data mining skills to solve business problems, as well as data visualisation skills using appropriate software and programming language.
- learn to generate value from big data
- apply theory to practical situations through case studies and projects from industry.
- Develop your mindset: nurture and strengthen your strategic thinking, communication and research capabilities to become an effective data analyst.
- Develop specialised, practical skills in data analytics: this course integrates core management skills and knowledge, which are then developed, refined and made more specialised for working in the data analytics sector.
- Applied, real-world teaching: a key part of the teaching approach is accessing multiple data resources, which need to be analysed and communicated to managers, to help inform evidence-based management decision-making.
- Industry-approved software utilisation: the course uses industry-standard software to apply analytical techniques, such as Tableau, SPSS, Google Analytics and NVivo.
- External project consultancy opportunities: there will be opportunities to engage with external consultancy projects with a real client or undertake an individual academic research dissertation.
Assessment method
This course will be assessed using a variety of methods which will vary depending upon the module. Assessment methods include the Postgraduate Business Project, reports, presentations, formal examinations and practical coursework. The Coventry University Group assessment strategy ensures that our courses are fairly assessed and allows us to monitor student progression towards the achieving the intended learning outcomes. Assessments may include exams, individual assignments or group work elements.
Entry requirements
A second class honours (minimum 2:2 or higher) in either; business, finance, economics, management science, logistics, engineering, computing or mathematics. Applicants from other degrees may be considered on a case-by-case basis provided they can show strong quantitative ability. Applications from candidates who can demonstrate considerable experience at an appropriate professional level but who do not have formal academic entry qualifications may also be admitted on an individual basis
