Course summary

Our MSc in Sports Engineering has been designed with input from industry to meet the challenges of the rapidly changing global sports equipment market. You will develop the technical and transferable skills highly sought after by the sports equipment industry and academic research. You will be taught by sports engineering academics and industrialists who have an extensive experience working within the sports equipment industry. This expertise is reflected in the teaching, ensuring the course content is focused on the most up-to-date industry trends and challenges. Core study areas include product design engineering in sport, measurement and data analytics, research methods, the sports industry, innovation processes, sustainability in product design, human factors in product design, robotics in sport and a major project.

Assessment method

You will be assessed via a combination of technical reports, presentations, projects and written examinations. The reports, presentations and projects will include both individual and group components.


Entry requirements

A 2:1 honours degree (or equivalent international qualification) in a relevant science, technology, engineering or maths discipline. Applicants with alternative qualifications or with professional experience, but qualifications slightly below this level, will also be considered.
