Business Analytics is at the heart of the modern digital skillset, interpreting the data that shapes an organisation’s decision making. With the increasing influence of data on a business’s operations, combining an understanding of data science with a subject discipline can provide a significant employment advantage. On this MSc Business Analytics course, students will gain cutting edge and high demand digital skills from industry leading software systems such as AWS Cloud Computing Practitioner, Alteryx Designer Core Certification for data wrangling, machine learning and Tableau certification for data visualisation to make qualified, real world business decisions. The course is designed with future business managers in mind, so no prior coding experience is required, instead focusing on ‘drag and drop’ software to interpret large datasets for analysis. The course is also designed to enhance student employability, by providing highly sought-after digital skills in the following areas:

- Artificial intelligence
- Machine learning
- Predictive analytics (Alteryx Designer certification)

Assessment method
Assessment is carried out by a variety of methods including written assignments, closed-book examinations, in-class tests, oral presentations, group work and independent research.
Entry requirements
Students are required to choose either a Dissertation or Consultancy Project which are optional non-condonable modules. Only one dissertation is permitted. Teaching and learning will be delivered in the form of lectures, and seminars, coursework assignments, supervised individual project, and guided independent study. Students will write a dissertation as part of their studies. One unique aspect of our curriculum design is the promotion of a ‘curiosity pod’ to support problem solving and enquiry based and personalised learning by students. Designed for experiential learning, our Digital Innovation Lab will be used as our studio where critics will help students become better business analysts in their chosen domains. The role of critics will be to offer opinions, alternatives and different perspectives. The curiosity pod will focus on questioning student work from different perspectives, allowing students time to reflect and integrate their prior learning to real life problems and datasets. In addition to mandatory modules, there will be a number of optional modules available during the course of your degree. Although Royal Holloway will keep changes to a minimum, new options may be offered or existing ones may be withdrawn. For example where reasonable and necessary due to unexpected events, where requirements of relevant Professional, Statutory or Regulatory Bodies (PSRBs) have changed and course requirements must change accordingly, or where changes are deemed necessary on the basis of student feedback and/or the advice of External Advisors, to enhance academic provision. Additional fee information
These tuition fees apply to students enrolled on a full-time basis. Students studying on the standard part-time course structure over two years are charged 50% of the full-time applicable fee for each study year.
All postgraduate fees are subject to inflationary increases. This means that the overall cost of studying the course via part-time mode is slightly higher than studying it full-time in one year. Royal Holloway's policy is that any increases in fees will not exceed 5% for continuing students. For further information, please see our terms and conditions. Please note that for research courses, we adopt the minimum fee level recommended by the UK Research Councils for the Home tuition fee. Each year, the fee level is adjusted in line with inflation (currently, the measure used is the Treasury GDP deflator). Fees displayed here are therefore subject to change and are usually confirmed in the spring of the year of entry. The UK Government has confirmed that EU nationals are no longer eligible to pay the same fees as UK students, nor be eligible for funding from the Student Loans Company. This means you will be classified as an international student. At Royal Holloway, we wish to support those students affected by this change in status through this transition. For eligible EU students starting their course with us in September 2023, we will award a fee reduction scholarship equivalent to 30% of the difference between the UK and international fee for your course.
