Course summary

This reputable and unique television broadcasting degree will allow you to master the art of technical broadcasting during live streaming and pre-recorded events, as well as gain a deep understanding of the TV industry and the principles of broadcast engineering. With this course providing the industry with designers, Multi Skilled Technical Operator (MSTOs), engineers, and developers for half a century, you'll be prepared for employment at a range of highly respected broadcasters and other media organisations. You'll leave this course equipped with professional skills and knowledge gained through real-world technical and creative projects, needed to succeed in a fast-paced broadcast environment. Whether live or within other workflows, graduates are able to work under pressure and deliver to exacting technical industry standards. Previous students have live-streamed projects with The Royal Shakespeare Company education arm along with other prestigious partners. We're also members of Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE) Student Chapter, which exposes staff and students to a range of opportunities. Why study this course?

Modules

You'll explore both traditional areas such as digital and satellite transmission, streaming and live events and evolving technologies such as virtual production, advances in video and audio (like UHD and Dolby), the emergence of AI and other developments in technology. Assessment method

You will be assessed through the preparation of written, video and project work, individual and group presentations and a range of other methods appropriate to the learning outcomes within each unit. Each module has a Formative and a Summative assessment point, where feedback and advice are provided to develop and complete projects and a final grade is awarded.
