Course summary

Sussex is the ideal place to study this interdisciplinary course. You’ll critically analyse development, democratisation processes and social change alongside gaining creative and technical media production skills. You focus on media as tools for global, social and political change. There is a a strong emphasis on the role of civil society and alternative media organisations. Activist media, citizen journalism, participatory media, specialised broadcast media and social media are successfully used to inform and engage audiences outside established channels of communication for issues such as:

  • social inequality
  • human rights
  • gender issues
  • environmental change.
You’ll have 24-hour access to the latest professional-grade equipment and post-production facilities. We understand that deciding where and what to study is a very important decision. We’ll make all reasonable efforts to provide you with the courses, services and facilities described in this prospectus. However, if we need to make material changes, for example due to government or regulatory requirements, or unanticipated staff changes, we’ll let you know as soon as possible.
