More about this course The Blood Science MSc course at London Metropolitan University is designed to equip you with the knowledge and skills to practice biomedical science at the highest level in the emerging multidisciplinary area of blood science. This increasingly popular field within pathology is a merger of three previously separate fields: clinical biochemistry, medical immunology and clinical haematology. This course is ideal for your career advancement or CPD. For example, you may currently be working in a biomedical science environment, in either the health service or other related industry, and wish to progress further in your career. You can study either part-time or full-time starting in the autumn or sping, allowing you to fit your studies around your working life. You'll be supported by our Virtual Learning Environments (VLEs) Weblearn and Collaborate, which are accessible from home at all times. All modules are taught by experts in their field with research interests and qualifications in relevant topics at a PhD level. You will learn in lectures, tutorials, seminars and practical workshops. The completion of an IBMS-accredited course such as this Blood Science MSc is an essential prerequisite to attain the Chartered Scientist (CSci) professional qualification.

Assessment method
Assessments will include exercises and short phase tests will be used to provide feedback on your progress. Summative assessment of your knowledge base and your understanding will be incorporated into formal in-course tests and exercises, personal learning log and end-of-module assessment completed at the end of each unit. MSc research project assessment will culminate in the presentation of a dissertation and a poster presentation (via face-to-face messaging system or similar technology).
Entry requirements
You will be required to have: a first or second class honours first degree (or equivalent) in biomedical or life sciences subjects (that included appropriate biomedical content), although other subjects may be considered Lower grades, or non-degree qualifications supplemented by substantial work experience, may be considered at interview. All applicants must be able to demonstrate proficiency in the English language. Applicants who require a Tier 4 student visa may need to provide a Secure English Language Test (SELT) such as Academic IELTS. The fees are £715 per 20 credit module, with the exception of:
The Research Project module, costing £2,510 plus a work bench fee charge if conducted in our laboratories (or £2,000 for IBMS members, but this requires the Bioethics Research and Grant Proposal module to have been passed first).
The cost of the BM7P20 Dissertation is more than the other modules.
