Leading to Strategic Human Resource Management MSc The Senior People Professional Apprenticeship aims to develop Human Resource (HR) professionals to take a strategic approach in championing the people agenda, future-proof the workforce, develop inclusive cultures and an engaging employee experience journey while creating high-performing work environments where employees flourish in their work and wellbeing. This course enables practitioners to develop a theory-informed and evidence-based approach to HR practice with a focus on real-world application across different organisational contexts and industries. Students develop critical thinking, an ethical mindset and practical HR skills, putting humans at the heart of organisations and their HR professional practice. This course meets the knowledge, skills and behaviours of the Level 7 Senior People Professional Apprenticeship Standard (HR Pathway). Students who are not funded by the Apprenticeship Levy via their employer may enrol on the Strategic Human Resource Management MSc. This course is specifically designed for experienced HR professionals who are currently in a strategic position or have aspirations for similar roles. Specific job roles relevant for this course may include Chief People Officer, Head of HR, People Director, Director of People Experience and Culture, HR Manager, Senior HR Business Partner, HR Business Partner, Talent Acquisition Manager, Employee Relations Manager, HR Officer/Advisor as well as a range of professionals operating in the HRM field. This course is suitable for: HR leaders and Strategic HR Business Partners currently in role who want to upskill in contemporary and future-proof approaches to strategic people management, or experienced HR professionals who want to develop a strategic HR skill set. Senior people professionals who want to develop as internal HR consultants and leverage the people agenda to add value to the business, organisations and society. Senior people professionals looking to understand the wider business and how HR contributes to making an impact on organisational strategic priorities and the impact of HR across organisational boundaries, supply chains, business ecosystems and industries. HR professionals involved in the design, implementation or evaluation of people policies and strategies. Experienced people professionals looking to step up to more strategic and senior roles in HRM. HR professionals who are part of a talent pipeline or fast-track talent programme to become future strategic people leaders.


Entry requirements

We welcome applications from talented candidates of all backgrounds and a degree is not always necessary. Each application is considered on its individual merit, taking into account both qualifications and work experience. Usually candidates must have two years’ work experience and hold either: - first or a second class UK honours degree in a relevant discipline, or - international relevant degree - equivalent of UK qualifications. Candidates who do not meet these criteria may be considered if they have a professional qualification (e.g. from CIPS, CILT, and APICS) together with relevant work experience. If you are an international student you will need to provide evidence that you have achieved a satisfactory test result in an English qualification. The minimum standard expected from a number of accepted courses are as follows: IELTS - 6.5; TOEFL - 92; Pearson PTE Academic - 65; Cambridge English Scale - 180; Cambridge English: Advanced - C; Cambridge English: Proficiency - C. Before an application is submitted for the Senior Leader Apprenticeship programme, you need to have approval from your employer. You have to be employed and your employer has to agree to provide you with the support and supervision to carry out your job role and your apprenticeship. It is a requirement of the Apprenticeship Funding Rules that you are working at least 50% of your contracted hours in England. A three-way agreement needs to be put in place between Cranfield University, the employer and the student.
