Course summary
This course is designed to prepare you for a career in a broad range of digital occupations, such as Cyber Security, Network Engineering, Business Intelligence and Data analytics. The first year of this two year course lays the foundation of learning by providing a broad introduction to digital technologies and to a range of specialist functions, developing your core skills in key areas of digital-technology-related business. The second year gives you the opportunity to specialise in a digital-technology related occupational area such as Cyber Security, Network Engineering, Business and Data analytics. Once you have completed your two years with us you will have a professional understanding of the principles in your chosen digital specialism and will know how to apply those principles more widely in the area of digital technologies. You will finish with a Level 5 Higher National Diploma, which is equivalent to a second year of an Undergraduate degree, and you can either progress into employment in the industry or complete a BSc Top-up (Level 6) at a University that offers it. This is an approved Higher Technical Qualification (HTQ) that has been approved by the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education and aligns with occupational standards recognised by employers. HTQs are a new alternative to apprenticeships or degrees. They may suit you if you want a more practical, employer-led study programme.
