Course summary
Whether you want to become a corporate lawyer or a management consultant, develop the knowledge, skills and attributes you need to succeed with a joint Business Management and Law degree from LTU. This course is practical and academically balanced, developed with employers and taught by lecturers with extensive industry experience. The Leeds Trinity Business School has brought together content from our business and law degrees to focus on preparing you for a wide range of graduate careers that use law in a business context. You'll be able to choose the areas you find most interesting in your final year with a choice of business and law modules. You'll learn about the legal and regulatory context in which businesses operate and find out how law and legal advice fit into core business functions. You’ll study subjects critical for successful business operation, including people management, business research and analytics, as well as areas of law that relate to business management such as contract law and torts - an important area of civil law. Develop skills and knowledge in contracts, regulation and legal principles that you can apply in the workplace. Professional work placements are part of your degree. In your final year, you'll get to work on a business project with an employer, giving you relevant work experience and valuable employer connections. You'll graduate prepared for roles within business management or the legal profession, such as management consultant, human resources manager, quality assurance manager or business lawyer. You’ll also develop transferable skills like detail and logic that employers value in all industries. Professional work placements You’ll complete professional work placements as part of your degree, working with law and legal service providers or within the business sector. Previous students on our Business programmes have worked in private and public sector organisations, such as Leeds Playhouse, Bradford City Council and Aviva. Graduate opportunities Our Business Management and Law degree aims to prepare you for a wide range of professional roles in either sector or for postgraduate study in either academic discipline. The course does not provide specific preparation for the Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE) but offers a basic grounding in law concepts that may be used as a basis for further study for the SQE if you want to train to be a solicitor. Potential career routes for graduates may include financial and business regulation, contract management, employment, people management and business consultancy.
