Geology is the study of the structure, evolution and dynamics of the Earth and its natural mineral and energy resources - if it hasn't been grown, then a geologist has discovered it. The discipline draws on knowledge from many different aspects of science such as chemistry, biology, and physics as well as other subjects such as geography and environmental science. The world is under huge environmental threat. From climate change to depletion of resources - we need to find solutions to counter the devastating impact humans are having on the planet. Geology (Environmental Geoscience) BSc at Keele is an applied pathway that aims to combine a broad understanding of geology with a more in-depth knowledge of human interactions with the Earth's environments. You will explore the science behind the world's environmental challenges and the systems that need to change to secure a sustainable future. This Environmental Geoscience pathway through the BSc Geology degree combines the study of the geological aspects of the Earth, including its structure, formation, composition, history, processes, hazards and materials, with key topics in environmental science, including climate change, contaminated land and remediation, water, soil and air quality, and the sustainable use of resources.
