Course summary

Historical Archaeology explores the material remains of the last 2,000 years - the period for which texts and document sources exist. Understanding and analysing these sources enables us to understand human lives, from the spread of the Roman Empire to everyday life for the Vikings. If you are considering a History degree but also have a passion for historic sites, material culture or museums, our BA Historical Archaeology gives you the best of both worlds. Our department is world-renowned for the advanced study of archaeology. We’re friendly and welcoming, meaning you'll get to know your lecturers, and they'll get to know you. You'll have so many opportunities to get involved. Join the Archaeology Society to working abroad on a research project. We have bespoke facilities on campus.
