We’ll train you to become proficient in programs such as Autodesk Maya and the Adobe Creative Suite, helping you develop a well-rounded skillset highly sought after by employers in the animation industry and associated creative sectors. Driven by the world’s seemingly limitless demands for creative and original CG content, this course is accredited by Creative Skillset, giving you an outstanding launchpad for an exciting career in this rapidly evolving industry. In your final year, you’ll be able to focus on a specific specialist pathway, such as character and environment design and animation, or work toward developing and directing your own animated short using all the tools you’ve learned and skills you’ve honed in the previous two years. Drawing, both digital and analogue, is fundamental to this course, with weekly life-drawing classes and drawing-based pre-production a pre-requisite of all projects in every year. In addition to weekly taught classes, student software training is supported by a course website containing over 200 bespoke online video tutorials, available 24/7 and updated constantly to reflect industry practices and changes in professional software packages. You’ll have open access to more than 50 industry-standard computers (both PC & Mac platforms) containing professional software, including Autodesk Maya, Mudbox, and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, After Effects, Premiere, Animate, Audition, and Illustrator). Qualification requirements

QualificationOfferFurther information

The majority of our courses require a portfolio and we consider the strength of our applicants’ portfolios, as well as their grades. This means that whilst we have a standard entry criteria of 112 UCAS tariff points (64 UCAS points for 4 year courses) and a minimum of four GCSE passes (or equivalent) at grade A*-C and/or 4-9 including English, this should be used as a guide to what we accept. The average tariff that our students achieve is significantly higher than this standard entry criteria but we also occasionally make offers which are lower to students with a strong portfolio, and those who have faced difficulties that have affected their performance and who were expected to achieve higher results. We welcome applicants who are currently studying or have completed A-Levels, Extended Diplomas (BTEC and UAL), Foundation Diploma in Art and Design, Access to Higher Education, Scottish Highers, and IB Diploma. We will consider other Level 3 qualifications on an individual basis and we are happy to accept applicants with a combination of Level 3 qualifications. You can also check how many tariff points you have achieved using the UCAS Tariff calculator: https://www.ucas.com/ucas/tariff-calculator
