Course summary

The BA Hons in Primary Education with QTS is a school-based, three-year undergraduate course leading to Qualified Teacher Status. WHO IT IS RELEVANT FOR: Anyone who wants to be a primary school teacher and has A Levels or equivalent (equal to 112 UCAS tariff points) DURATION OF COURSE: This course is full time for three years. Starting September 2022. COURSE DELIVERY

  • Trainees will be placed in a host school for two days a week.
  • One and a half days a week will be Directed Study at Two Mile Ash Initial Teacher Training Partnership based at Fairfields Primary School, Fairfields, Milton Keynes.
  • One and a half days a week will be set aside for self-directed study time and enrichment activities.

  • Trainees will be based in a school for the duration of a year, each year the school that they are based in will change so trainees get a full and rounded experience of working within different schools.

  • A large and supportive partnership of schools that allows us to find the right host school to support each trainee.
  • Trainees are able to acess resources at both Two Mile Ash Initial Teacher Training Partnership and Birmingham City University
  • Whilst Birmingham City University accredited and award the degree trainees will be based in Milton Keynes.

Qualified teacher status (QTS)

To work as a teacher at a state school in England or Wales, you will need to achieve qualified teacher status (QTS). This is offered on this course for the following level:

International applicants

If you wish to apply to us for teacher training and your secondary school qualifications (ie. your GCSE and A-level equivalents) were obtained overseas, you will need to apply for a statement of comparability from UK NARIC and submit this with your application, along with photocopies of your certificates. Once you have filled in the online application form you will need to supply us with an individual statement from NARIC addressed to you personally. A general comparability printed off the internet is not sufficient.
