Course summary

Learn from research scientists at the forefront of cancer research and cancer therapy design, based in the internationally-renowned Genome Damage and Stability Centre. You’ll benefit from the applied research expertise of the Centre’s teams. Understand the molecular basis and cell biology of cancer and gain the skills required for a research career. You build your analytical and experimental experience and learn the necessary bioinformatics and experimental theory. Many of our teams get funding from the Medical Research Council and Cancer Research UK – the world’s leading independent funder of cancer research.

Modules

We’re planning to run these modules in the academic year 2023/24. However, there may be changes to these modules in response to COVID-19, staff availability, student demand or updates to our curriculum. We’ll make sure to let our applicants know of material changes to modules at the earliest opportunity. Core modules are taken by all students on the course. They give you a solid grounding in your chosen subject and prepare you to explore the topics that interest you most.

Entry requirements

You should normally have an upper second-class (2.1) undergraduate honours degree or above. Your qualification should be in a relevant science subject such as biology, cell biology or genetics. You may also be considered for the course if you have other professional qualifications or experience of equivalent standing.
