Linguistics is all about unlocking the mysteries of language, one of the most fascinating aspects of being human. At Brighton, you will dive deep into how language shapes our thoughts and society, gaining skills in language analysis and exploring the connections between language, the mind, and social life. With option modules in your second and final years, you can explore topics like social policy or creative writing. You will graduate with valuable skills as a critical thinker, independent researcher, and effective team player. At the end of year 1 you can choose a specialist subject that complements your degree, or to carry on with the broader Linguistics degree.

Additional fee information
Please note that the £13,842 international fee is for classroom based courses and provisional for 2023. For lab based courses a higher fee of £14,892 applies. EU students will be charged international fees unless they have settled status awarded by the UK Government's Settlement Scheme.
Further tuition fees are payable for each subsequent year of study and are subject to an annual increase of no more than 5% or RPI (whichever is the greater). The annual increase for UK/EU students, who are subject to regulated fees, will increase no more than the statutory maximum fee.
The tuition fee you have to pay depends on a number of factors including the kind of course you take, and whether you study full-time or part-time. If you are studying part-time you will normally be charged on a pro rata basis depending on the number of modules you take. If your course includes a sandwich year option you will pay a reduced fee during this year; £1,370 for home students and £2,120 for international students.
