Course summary

Civil engineering is all about people. From supplying energy and clean water to our homes, to processing and recycling our waste, civil engineers work on developing services and facilities we use every day. On this Civil Engineering degree, you’ll study fundamental engineering principles, underpinned by mathematics, health and safety, and sustainability. You’ll learn how to use industry-standard software for the design and construction of civil engineering projects. There are also opportunities for field trips and work placements. Our Civil Engineering courses are designed with senior industry professionals to ensure you are highly employable and a valuable addition to any area of the industry. The BEng (Hons) Civil Engineering degree is accredited as fully satisfying the educational base for an Incorporated Engineer (IEng); and partially satisfying the educational base for a Chartered Engineer (CEng). A programme of accredited Further Learning will be required to complete the educational base for CEng. This Civil Engineering degree is based at Treforest. USW Treforest is surrounded by green open spaces. Our students say they love the warm and friendly welcome and community atmosphere, as well as the convenience of living and studying in the same place. From listed buildings to new, modern structures, Treforest reflects the University’s history and its ambitions. Here you will find everything you need in one place - halls of residence, the library and sport centre, cafes and bars to eat and drink, and friends to spend time with.
