Course summary

Develop the theoretical and practical managerial skills you need for a successful career in the headquarters, stores and supply chains of the retail industry. This course is for graduates with a degree in any subject. We’ve combined our leading research with our industry partners’ experience to design content relevant to contemporary retailing. You’ll develop the knowledge and skills leaders need to succeed in the rapidly changing retailing industry. You’ll learn about things like:

  • supply chain and distributor relationship management
  • making sense of big and small data

  • operations management
  • strategy
  • leadership
  • consumer psychology
  • customer experience
This degree balances the latest theory with practical application. You’ll apply what you learn to real-life case studies and explore them from the perspectives of firms, consumers and society. You’ll have the flexibility to choose one of three options for the summer term:

  • an industry internship
  • launch your own retail start-up

This course has been designed to ensure the available units complement each other to meet its overall aims.

Assessment method

You will experience a broad balance between different forms of assessment: individual and group assignments, as well as examinations. The work required may include written submissions, live presentations and recorded videos. Assessment on the course has been designed to support your professional development in important business skills.


Entry requirements

British qualifications: Type of degree 2:1 (or its international equivalent) in your undergraduate degree. Your degree can be in any discipline. If you are a UK student and completed your undergraduate degree abroad, your qualification must be equivalent to a 2:1 or above. We may make an offer based on a lower grade if you can provide evidence of your suitability for the degree. Work experience: In exceptional cases, relevant work experience may be a substitute for the degree requirement. You should have no more than three years’ relevant work experience. English language requirements: IELTS You will need an International English Language Test System (IELTS) score of at least 7.0 overall. Your scores for reading, writing, listening and speaking must be at least 6.5. These results must be no more than two years old from the start date of your MSc course. Read more on the IELTS website.
