Course summary

Adult nurses operate as confident, competent and compassionate practitioners, engaging in values based nursing. Become a Registered Nurse and develop skills to improve health and wellbeing of individuals, their families and communities. With a fully-equipped simulated ward area on campus and close to Scotland’s leading hospitals, studying at GCU gives you access to excellent facilities. The Interprofessional Clinical Simulation Centre, a fully equipped simulated home and hospital environment, situated on campus, is used to provide opportunities for the development and practice of clinically focused skills in a safe, supported and highly effective learning environment. You will experience a variety of clinical placements and will learn through a wide variety of methods. Clinical practice accounts for 50% of the course, including community and hospital placements as well as independent and voluntary sector experience. Upon graduation you will be eligible to register with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).

Entry requirements

Standard Qualification Requirements

Applicants are expected to have evidence of assessed study (not work based) within the last 5 years. A reference which should be relevant within the past 9 months. Applicants must be 17 by the January after their Programme starts For year 2 entry - HNC Care and Administrative Practice with B in the Graded Units, successful completion of 600 clinical hours but advised to achieve as close to 620 clinical hours as possible (in designated clinical area). Candidates need to obtain a minimum of 90% attendance at College and a minimum of 90% attendance at Practice Placement. Applications subject to interview and places and must be supported by the college partner.
