Course summary
This course provides the opportunity to upgrade academic and professional skills, expertise and knowledge. Students study core modules in the different aspects of sport and exercise physiology, as well as research methods, research into practice and a major independent study related to their specific interests in sport and exercise physiology.
Modules
Core modules: Research methods; research and professional practice; major independent study. Option modules may include: Clinical exercise testing and prescription; physiology and biochemistry for performance; physiology of sports performance; essentials of sport and exercise physiology; ergogenic practices and nutritional manipulation in sport and exercise; measurement and evaluation in sport and exercise.
Entry requirements
Applicants should either have at least a 2nd Class Honours degree in the cognate subjects of sports science, exercise science, physical education, human physiology, biochemistry, physical sciences, physics, physiotherapy, medicine or sports therapy, at least a 2nd Class Honours degree in a non-cognate subject supported by evidence of an aptitude for the subject applied for, or have equivalent experience or training, normally from within the work environment. All applications should be supported by a reference, either academic or professional. Applicants whose 1st language is not English require IELTS 6.5 (with a minimum 6.0 in each component) or equivalent.
